Read this article for our technical take on inRiver Product Marketing Cloud (iPMC)’s latest updates:
- Syndicate application
- REST API
- iPMC Internationalization.
1. Syndicate application
Good news: inRiver continues to invest in the creation of multiple native syndication extensions. Easily export your data to popular marketplaces like Amazon, Walmart, Home Depot and more.
How it works: The workflow is pretty simple. Create the mapping between your marketing model and the output file. Natively export Excel, JSON and XML files. You can either download on demand or upload on an SFTP. You can also schedule the export.
Custom functions: Maybe your product was initially described as blue but your marketing team has told you that it should be described as navy blue. With a custom function created by your implementation agency, you can change this information automatically before exporting. Your implementation agency can create extensions to add, update, and delete any element in the output file.

2. REST API
Another big feature that we’ve been talking about for months is the REST API. This is a game-changer for creating connectors. As an inRiver partner, when it’s time to do a connector between a third party and inRiver, the Absolunet team had to develop an extension. It was the PIM’s responsibility to fetch data from the third party or to export to the outbound channel. It wasn’t possible for third parties to get data from or push data to the PIM.
With iPMC’s REST API, your technical team can now autonomously retrieve and push data to the PIM. But be aware of the marketing model; you’ll need to transform the PIM marketing model to match your third party’s model.
We can also use the REST API in HTML Templates. Before this feature, in an “Edit in context” HTML Template, we were constricted by the scope of the entity. For instance, it wasn’t possible to get data from another entity (ex: information about your brand) that is not linked to the current entity (ex: information about one product). It was a big limitation. Now we can use this API to get all the data we need.

3. IPMC Internationalization
inRiver has just translated its interface into French and German. Other languages are coming soon. Un petit bonjour to our clients in Quebec awaiting this feature.
